When I got my first straightening iron, we were all pretty fascinated. So one day we decided to see if we could straighten my son's soft curls. This is the result of that experiment.
Not good. We try periodically to get the hubs to let us try it on his (quite long, quite curly) hair but he won't let us near him with it... so I agree with all of the above posters - your guy is a good sport.
He has beautiful hair, regardless. If you are serious about giving him a straight 'do, you need to blow dry his wet hair, smoothing it with a brush first, otherwise . . . well, you have pictures of otherwise.
#2 loves it when I straighten his hair. He calls it "lion hair", I call it a whole lotta work for a really bad outcome. I'm curious about whether or not he will still let me do it when he's a big boy like yours!
Darn... I was just going to say he's a good sport but secret mom beat me to it! Nonetheless, he is ADORABLE! Straight irons probably work best on really long hair... something about the length and weight of it helps flatten it out. I know my short layers are the hardest to get smooth,
I tried using a flat iron to straighten my hair. I burned myself like 10 times. It took me a week before I could walk right! hahahaha! (still afraid to call?) hehe
I hair that flips in all the places I don't want it to flip. It's so annoying. Anyway, I think I'm the fail with my flat iron, I can't get that damn thing to work.
Too cute!!! He is a handsome boy! This made me laugh because it made think back to using a crimping iron on my husband's (then boyfriend) hair to crimp his mullet. bbbwwwahahahahahah
Hmmmm.... I don't get it. I have the flattest hair on earth so I'm not sure what a flat iron is or is supposed to do. Is this a success or a miss? Wow...clueless on more than technology...go figure. lol
Holy 131 comments and holy hair! I love the pics of the flat iron- gone wrong. I can't believe you came by my little ol' blog when you have a comment audience of over 130! Thanks...
I am a new follower and wanted to say hi! These pics are fabulous. I recently invested in my first Chi and I have to confess I'm not very good with it. Maybe your son can give me some pointers?
I think he could start a new trend! I'm sure dreds got the same reaction the first time someone sported them. My hair couldn't be straighter. Am always envious of curls.
I can't believe he let you take a photo, let alone put it on the web. I took photos of my ds last night of him flexing his muscles in the mirror in my bedroom...and he deleted every one of them...there went my blog post - lol. I'm so lucky none of my kids got dh's hair - it's just like that...although longer. Thanks for stopping by on my blog :)
I soooo have to laugh, I have curly haired boys with the exact same photos - we all had a good laugh, my girls would sit around with the flat iron and see if they could get their hair straightened, mostly looked like they plugged themselves into a light socket :)
Great pics, though I'm thinking the experiment failed. My kids would have killed me in horrible ways before letting me post pics of them on my blog without their hair perfect. Yours is a great sport!

Your kids are so fun!
I've definitely seen some people out there with worse hair. :o)
I don't know if that is a fail. Heck, he is probably on the cutting edge of some new bed-head style:-)

#2 loves it when I straighten his hair. He calls it "lion hair", I call it a whole lotta work for a really bad outcome. I'm curious about whether or not he will still let me do it when he's a big boy like yours!
Hilarious. Don't fight the curls!!!
He is a good sport.
Darn... I was just going to say he's a good sport but secret mom beat me to it! Nonetheless, he is ADORABLE!

It was very nice of him to let you try it out!

Love the pics! I have never tried a flat iron because they are so friggin expensive....
I tried using a flat iron to straighten my hair. I burned myself like 10 times. It took me a week before I could walk right! hahahaha! (still afraid to call?) hehe
Oh my goodness, what a guy for succumbing to the flat iron! LOL

Funny! Like others have said, what a great sport!
Um...it didn't work. LOL
Why in heaven's name would you want to straighten those gorgous curls?
The things our boys will do to amuse mum eh?
That would be a no. Don't quit your day job. ;)

www.WebSavyMom.com
Wow - quite the hairdo!
OK so THAT worked...

Sometimes you just gotta embrace the curls ;)
all I can say is HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
They don't look very straight..ha ha! My boys would have NEVER allowed me to do that! You are lucky you got him to sit still! He is such a cutie! :)
Cute pic!! He is adorable!
Not so much, huh. At least he was willing to play along.
Thanks for stopping by.
What a trooper!
I couldn't live without my straightening iron. I look like Chaka Khan without it (that reference doesn't date me too much does it?) :)
Some things just aren't meant to be!
Was the flat iron heated up? ;)
Love the pics! What a good sport your son is...that's true love! ;)
LOL! Too funny! At least he is a good sport!
OMG, I have to have my flat iron. I can't imagine that it didn't do a better job. lol
A problem I wish I had ... neither I nor my daughter have a smidge of texture to our hair. Flat and lifeless; that's our "look" everyday!
Really cute pictures. Wow his hair is curly!
Lol that is so funny. I wanna straighten Zoe's hair to see it without the curls but she is only 2.
Yikes!
Oh that is too funny! Looks like he had a great attitude about it, though!
I don't think it worked :)
If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

Cute shots. He looks so "pensive!"
Your son is so cute -- but I think the curls looked better -- LOL.

*giggling*
I hair that flips in all the places I don't want it to flip. It's so annoying. Anyway, I think I'm the fail with my flat iron, I can't get that damn thing to work.
Can't live without my flat iron! I love those pics of your son though. He should live without a flat iron cause his curly hair is amazing!

WHat did you do to your son?! At least he took it like a big boy! :)

Um. Didn't quite work? :)
Hmmmm.... I don't get it. I have the flattest hair on earth so I'm not sure what a flat iron is or is supposed to do. Is this a success or a miss? Wow...clueless on more than technology...go figure. lol
LOL!! I love his expressions!
His hair (not flat ironed) is to die for!
Well, that answers that question.
so..what you're saying is, he has learned to embrace his curls? These pics are priceless!
What a good sport... Girls love the curls though... hehee but the pictures are funny with his expressions..
Holy 131 comments and holy hair! I love the pics of the flat iron- gone wrong. I can't believe you came by my little ol' blog when you have a comment audience of over 130! Thanks...

I think he could start a new trend! I'm sure dreds got the same reaction the first time someone sported them. My hair couldn't be straighter. Am always envious of curls.
I'm surprised he let you fool around with his hair! ha! He could set a new hairstyle though. What do you think?
Oh boy - I don't know quite what to say! That is an interesting...experiment?? LOL
Happy Wednesday!
Agh! He's still a cutie though.
Hmmm, I'd be taking it back! LOL!
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!! Er... the flat iron is supposed to make his hair straight, not more curly! Heeheehee
Justine :o )
Your son is very cute, and a great sport!
Hey at least it was worth a shot. TOO Funny! Following from MBC, would love if you would follow back. http://www.guessingalltheway.com
Now that there is funny! Reminds me of my first flat iron experience. I had no clue what I was doing and it showed.
Ha ha, I'm guessing that's not exactly the look you were going for. As others have said, what a good sport for letting you try it.
Can I please met your kids!! They have got to be hilarious!
That is too funny!! Not sure it worked out so well. Maybe he needs some straightening cream too. Haha!
He looks so pleased :)
Really, he couldn't be more freaking cute. Really. What a great kid. I can see it!
oh dear lol
That is hilarious!
Isn't that look kind of "in"? Some of the guys on the soap I watch have that look. So...can't be that bad:)
Um, lol!
Well, it's a look.
Oh lordy! Poor guy, well he could start a new trend ... lOL ;)
I use my flat iron every day, but if I had curls that were adorable like his, never.
Such funny pictures.
You are so wrong, but he is so cute!
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
That looks pretty awful.

I'm assuming you had it on the super de duper setting, too.
He needs to embrace those curls!
Hmmm, not so much, huh?
It might take more than a straightening iron!
oh dear... maybe you should leave his nice soft curls alone?
bwhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like something I would do! :)
I can't even believe he let you do it! And post photos. Hilarious!
That brought a needed smile to my face. :)

One word for you: WOAH.
I soooo have to laugh, I have curly haired boys with the exact same photos - we all had a good laugh, my girls would sit around with the flat iron and see if they could get their hair straightened, mostly looked like they plugged themselves into a light socket :)
Kristin
Wait a minute....that's a popular hairstyle in my little town.
Great pics, though I'm thinking the experiment failed. My kids would have killed me in horrible ways before letting me post pics of them on my blog without their hair perfect. Yours is a great sport!
Have a great weekend,
Raven
Oh, he is a cutie! What a great guy to let you do that to him, then post pictures of him on your blog.
What a good sport...and here I was thinking there wasn't a limit to the flat iron! Flat iron..meet your match.
