My Yoga 2 Go Review and Giveaway

November 9, 2009

We're all busy moms, right? We don't always have time to go to yoga classes and many of us can't afford to do that. I was just able to review a new yoga practice system which is challenging and versatile, but is designed to be used in the comfort of your own home. It's called My Yoga 2 Go and I am loving it.

There are 7 different practice sequences (ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes in length) using 70 different posture cards (from which you can also customize your own sequence) and a multi-pocket display tote for easy visual reference while working out.

What's on the yoga cards?

Each card has the Sanskrit name and English translation along with a full color photo, the time to hold the pose and number of breaths, complete posture directions, and the benefits.

What are the yoga sequences?

Beginner: Flow,Energizer,Relaxation
Intermediate: Back strength,Core strength
Advanced: Hip-opening,Ashtanga
You can also easily customize your own individual sequences.

Simply choose your sequence, organize the cards by pose number, and insert into the display tote, which then hangs on a wall or doorknob where you can easily see it as you practice your yoga.

Pros: I absolutely love having the sequence right there in plain view. It just takes a quick glance and then I know which pose to move into next. The pockets of the display tote are quite tight so the cards won't slip out once you've put them in there, which is particularly helpful for traveling. The information on the back of the card is extremely informative, especially for more unfamiliar poses. I love the ability to have it all ready to go in the tote, but yet be able to fold it up in between yoga sessions.

Cons: Newbies to yoga will need the information on the back of the card more accessible so they may want to wait to use the tote until they can attain the poses without needing instruction. However, it's easily flipped around if they need to take a peek.

Final Thoughts: Whether practicing your yoga at home, the office, or in a hotel, this system is brilliantly designed. I've tried one other yoga system based on cards, and this one is far and away the better of the two.

*******

Buy It:
My Yoga 2 Go is priced at $29.95 and is available nationwide at select national and independent health food stores, luxury spas, yoga studios and online at My Yoga 2 Go. Special 15% discount when purchasing online now through November 15 using the code "BLOGYOGA".

Ok - favorite pose? Am I a cheating cheater pants if I say child's pose? It IS, after all, my favorite. No balance required. Just a nice relaxing stretch... Balance is not my good thing. Balance is what I need to work on. so I can earn my reward of a nice, long, child's pose...

My favorite Yoga pose is Vrikshasana-Tree Yoga Pose. Why? Because my 7 year old, who has NO interest in Yoga, will see me do it and come running to "exercise with mama!" he's done it since he was old enough to toddle over. Are any of us able to hold the pose for longer then a few seconds? No. But at least we can do what we can to get our kids interested, right?

I follow on Twitter, Facebook, Blogger google friend thing, and the stuff on my blog will come tomorrow and I will post a comment when its done.
