Rummino!

October 17, 2009

Does anyone want to play a game with me?

I'm constantly asking people (family members, not random strangers) to play a game. I LOVE playing board games and have loved it ever since I was a child.

Thanks to the Family Review Network, I just had the chance to review a game called Rummino! made by Marina Games.

Designed for ages 8+, it's a fun strategy game based on Rummy but using tiles. The object is to score the most points!

Each player starts with 7 tiles and creates sets and runs by laying them out on the table. Players try to build off the previously placed tiles to maximize points with each turn.

We've never even played a game of Rummy, so I wondered if we'd have a clue what we were doing. It took us a bit to get the hang of it, but once we did, we really had a great time. In fact, we got pretty darn competitive in an I love you but I'm totally going to kick your butt in this game way.

Oh, and a big plus is that the tiles all come in a very nice heavyweight drawstring bag for safe keeping.

Looking for a new game for your family game night?Try Rummino! You can order it here from Marina Games for $19.99.

Thank you to Marina Games for providing me with the game for purposes of this review. My opinions regarding this product are my own, and have not been influenced by receiving the product.

Rummy has been the time filler on many a rainy afternoon of my childhood in England. I can confirm the card game is a good mental workout for any youngster. So this board game looks like a go!

I have never played rummy so I'm not sure if I'd be a bit on the challenged side. I do love board games though.

Love rummy and board games. My husband is a real fartbag though. He never wants to play. It's good that it's for 8 and up, then I can play it with the kids.

I LOVE board games. My husband and I used to play Scrabble all the time. Then we had kids and I play a lot of CAndy Land with "I want to play it this way" rules set by a 5 year old.

It's just not the same... :)

This looks like a fun one!

And on another note...how do you get to review all these great things??

Sounds fun.
Josh and I ended our weekly game night because it always ended in an argument, lol!
I even wrote a note in the scrabble box that says something like 'don't ever play this game bc Josh will end being a poor loser'. Lol! Hopefully he'll be mature enough to bring game night back once we have kids. ;)

I love card and board games! The first time I ever played Uno was when I was in Boston, and the game has never even been heard of in England then! But we used to play it all night! It was hard explaining the rules, but then some bright spark said there was a game like that that you could play with ordinary playing cards!
I still have that old pack of Uno cards though!

Thanks for the heads up. We don't play too often, mainly on vacation but always interested in new games.

Sounds like fun. We played a lot of board games when our kids were teenagers and had 'friends' over. Kept their hands busy and off of each-other. So glad I popped in.

As we say here in the Ozark hills and hollers, "ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day!"

My hubby and I love to play rummy 500. My father in law tries to get us into other games, but we get frustrated and always go back to rummy.

I'm not a big fan of board games - something to do with my short memory and attention span.

I remember how I always played board games growing up. Now, with the internet and video games, it seems people don't have the patience for the board games anymore. It's too bad.

I'm a board game lover too. I love that my son is finally able to play games other than Candyland!!! I remember playing rummy before but have forgotten how to since then. And I love games with tiles .. I just like how they feel.
