The Amen Heresy - Giveaway

November 16, 2009

The Amen Heresy by W.H. Muhlenfeld

Ex-priest and dyslexic expert of ancient languages, Jack Fisher, agrees to assist an Israeli friend and expert of religious history; and is drawn into an unsolved mystery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. His discovery of the true meaning of the Copper Scroll threatens to expose the three religions of Abraham as the monotheistic legacy of an ancient, sun-worshipping pharaoh.. Jack joins forces with Agent Ariel Hadar of the Israeli Antiquities Authority and Sami Salaa, a Palestinian boy of the streets, in an epic struggle for possession of the scroll, and an explosive truth which will upend religious history and shatter the religious legacy of Jews, Christians and Muslims. (from the publisher)

Although I haven't had a chance to read it yet, I'm intrigued because it's a historical based mystery. I can't help but think of the non-stop excitement of an Indiana Jones type of adventure, and I'm looking forward to checking it out for myself.

Buy It: The Amen Heresy is available at Amazon for $15.95

Cool - my great grandpa was involved with excavating the dead sea scrolls. I wonder what he'd think of this book.

sounds interesting but I have issues with books that dabble with religous histories, especially using poetic license to alter facts and figures to fit their criteria.. like ohhh say Dan Brown and the Da vinci Code...

I find the fact that the protagonist, who deals in ancient languages, is dyslexic adds an interesting element to the story.

I find it interesting how they are mixing religion and history with adventure. My hubby would love to read this and debate about what he believes with what this book will claim. Sounds like a great book club read.

I think it's cool that the author actually went to the places mentioned in the book and climbed mountains, trekked wild lands, ran with Hemingway’s bulls and walked with shamans!

The very usage today of the word “amen” is an interesting conundrum. Is amen a holy affirmation, or is it simply a part of our collective memory of history’s first monotheist, the Pharaoh Akhenaten? sharonaquilino(At) hotmail (dot)com

There's some really interesting information on the Resources and Links page, like:

•70%, including a majority of all major Christian and non-Christian religious groups except Mormons, agree that "many religions can lead to eternal life."

•68% say "there's more than one true way to interpret the teachings of my religion."

I read that Amen is found in the Bible, but also in the Quran and in Hinduism. Amen is a shared response to liturgical rite
