Dream On

November 23, 2009

I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something.

The dreams I have the most are about boxes and packing, and I'm not even moving. I haven't moved in 10 years.

Usually in my dreams, I've run out of boxes, it's moving day, and I've just discovered a whole closet that needs to be packed up.

The horror! (whatever)

You know this seems a lot more desperate in my dreams.

Right now, it just sounds stupid.

Oooh! I've had that dream before when we were getting ready to move...wait, it was reality. ;)

I had a weird dream recently that three of my front teeth fell out because new ones were growing in. Probably because Princess Nagger is in the tooth-losing-growing stage. That or because it was after watching a dinosaur show with her which showed the adult T-Rex losing/replacing teeth all their lives... Apparently my dream is telling me I'm a dinosaur. Nice. ;)

Lol, that is a nightmare. Moving is painful!

the last weird dream i remember having was, i was at my parents house and in the garden, a cat was being eaten by a snake.

i chalked it up to being horny.

That would be an awful dream. I moved a couple years ago and it certainly was a nightmare.

I usually don't remember my dreams. All I remember is that they I wake up thinking, "That was a weird dream."

Have a great day!

Moving sucks in dreams and real life it's like working in your dreams for free.

Moving is a nightmare! Perhaps you have a move in your future??

I have 2 recurring dreams:

1. That I am unprepared for a test at school and I don't have a pencil. (I haven't been in school for almost 20 years and I was an A student)

2. That I have lost or forgotton one of my girls somewhere.

Both dreams suck. Why can't we have more dreams about sex?!

Noelle said...

interpretation of your dream would probably mean that you have issues in your "closet" that you haven't dealt with and that you're ready to move on...but haven't dealt with one or two issues and those issues are preventing you from moving forward in your life. not that i'm a psychotherapist or anything. i'm just sayin'.

Menopausal New Mom said...

That's a cute dream! The one that I have over and over is that I've lost my purse and I'm in a panic looking for it. I dream this so often and the funny thing is that I've never lost my purse before (Knock Wood!)

The deMented Mom said...

I hate those recurring dreams. I start to think that "something" is trying to tell me "something" and I find myself overthinking the whole thing.

However, Noelle's explanation sounds plausible...give it some thought?

Have a good Monday

Don't you just love those dreams. The dreams that feel so really, but then when you wake up. You think well that was so stupid.

Hmm Maybe someone in your family is going to be moving.

I dream epic dreams. where I'm the director and I have casts of thousands.

my interpretation: You like your life organized but feel sometimes as if there isn't enough time, space, or material left to keep it as organized as you want it. You feel anxious about it not being as structured as you want it to be.

or maybe that is completely wrong... but its fun trying to play your psychologist!

Rob said...

Packing and moving suck so this would be a nightmare for me not a dream. LOL.

It's good to talk about bad dreams. Because if you can say "that's stupid!", then they lose all their power!!!

I usually don't remember my current dreams. But this sounds like a dream with anxiety - I'm not trying to administer therapy or anything :-) Like a dream I used to have often, that I'm running late for class and when I finally reach the classroom it's over and everyone disburses... just horrible. That feeling of missing out on something.

No, it doesn't sound stupid. I used to have a recurring dream that I was in highschool about to graduate and then I remembered there was this one class that I hadn't been going to and I was failing because I had forgotten I had it and so it would prevent me from graduating. Quite the nightmare! I finally figured that it meant I was worried that I was missing something important I was supposed to be doing with my life and I was afriad of dying without it getting done. Maybe it's a similar concern with the boxes and moving that you feel you have something you ought to be doing and are afraid of running out of time in life to get it done. Or maybe it's just about boxes and moving and packing (and who wnats to pack anyway?). Dreams are interesting.

K said...

I think moving definitely qualifies as a nightmare.

Joy said...

That kind of nightmare sounds like it could lead to restless sleeping!

Xenia said...

No, I see how that would be a desperate and horrible situation. Moving pretty much sucks all the way around (except for the moment before anything is brought into the new place and it's all so nice and shiny and clean) so after all of the packing... to find another closet that still needs to be done might be pretty bad.

I used to have more strange dreams but lately I haven't gotten enough sleep so that by the time I do get to bed I drop into one of those completely dead to the world zones and don't remember any dreams. I guess it beats tossing and turning trying to fall asleep!

Mighty M said...

Dreams are so weird. Hopefully soon you will dream you find a room filled with nothing but boxes.

Or something better than that.

Right before I woke up this morning I dreamed that I was at Disneyland and I let Hannah and Eli get on the train ride that does around the park all by themselves. And I was freaking that I let them go alone and trying to run around finding them.

Darn dreams.

Sadly, I actually think I have LIVED that moment! Usually it's when I try to pack up an office, but otherwise it's right before moving and hubby is going to zonk me one. I think that dream would have me waking up in a panic!

Kristin at My Art and the Mom in Me said...

Taken from my Dream Encyclopedia book: (The .... means that i am leaving out some non-important things to save time cause the meaning is long)

"Boxes have a complex range of meanings, so deciphering the meaning...is often difficult. For Freud, boxes represent the womb or vagina. (lol - not in book) During a move...(does not apply to you, skip) Certain common metaphors, such as "feeling boxed in" can be expressed by boxes.....Boxes may contain danger (Pandora's box) or gifts (gift box)..."

Hmmm, I don't think that helped at all.

:)

(And thank you for your sweet comments on my blog, you are too too kind!)

Just Breathe said...

I hated packing up and moving. But it is one of the best ways to get rid of all the junk! You not going anywhere, right?

lfhpueblo said...

Dreams are often symbolic of something else in our lives. Maybe the packing means you're ready to move on in one area of your life. The need of boxes and stuff not even yet boxed up may represent a fear of moving on in that area of your life, or a need to finalize a few things in your life before you move forward in another new area of your life. Yet, I could be wrong, maybe it is just about moving.

The girl with the flour in her hair said...

Dreams have a way of doing that, don't they? You wake up and then realize how ridiculous they are. I had a dream about turkey that turned into a pig a few nights ago. It made perfect sense at the time.

otin said...

OK, I am an expert dream analyzer, my construction experience has taught me to do it!

The fact that you don't have enough boxes is your mind telling you that it is time to discard some things from the past that you have stored away, be it items, memories or built up anger or other emotions. When you are out of boxes, then you must leave things behind or throw them out!

I will send you the bill! :)

DG at Diary of a Mad Bathroom said...

I looked it up in an online dream dictionary. Here's what it said -

Moving
Again, with moving, we have another obstacle dream, in as much as, if the move goes smoothly and is completed in normal time then you will overcome your barriers and sail through to what you desire. If the dream of moving involves a lot of difficulty, or is not completed, then you must forego changes in your environment and plan on staying in the same career for a while.

Ugh, don't get me started on packing! Sometimes I'm tempted to just climb in a box and have someone move me for a change!

My name is PJ. said...

Hi Blue, Packing and boxes could mean something other than moving...or it could be 'moving' in the context of changing direction or focus.

It could also be order, organization, the need to tend to something left languishing that requires attention, not enough 'space'....

I underwent some dream analysis once upon a time and it was eye-opening. The bottom line is, what we don't tend to in our concious life, our unconcious will try and try to sort out for us...
