Toy Tuesday $250 Gift Card ONE DAY Giveaway!! {CLOSED}

400x168: Use on 12/8/09

I have a very goofy and silly side. (I think you all know that by now.) So you’d think I’d be just as goofy and silly about the toys I pick out. But, I am very picky.

I like toys that have lasting value, that can be played with in all kinds of ways, and that encourage free use of a child’s imagination. If it provides educational value, even better.

Here are the kinds of things that I bought and would still buy for my own kids. I found them all at eToys, by the way.

I love this Shape Up puzzle which combines fun with colors, shapes, counting, and matching. I had something very similar to this for my kids.

This handled shopping basket with groceries and this shopping cart were played with almost every single day. The shopping cart was used for things like races, scavenger hunts, a doll stroller, pick-up games, and of course grocery shopping.

My kids loved to work on board puzzles like this Melissa & Doug alphabet puzzle. I remember they’d put all the ABC’s in place and then immediately dump it upside down and start over.

There’s a reason that medical kits have been around for as long as we can remember. Kids love them! When my daughter played with her kit, she stored her pretend medicine in a plaque on the side of the fridge, and she was constantly refilling the syringe so she could give us more shots.

My kids had this Little Tikes double easel and I think it was probably one of the best investments we ever made in a toy. They played with it all the time for years and years.

I shared some of my favorite toys because I am one of the twelve featured bloggers participating in the Toy Tuesday campaign, sponsored by Bill Me Later (which if you didn’t already know, is a time saving, easy, safer way to checkout when shopping online.)

    oh my goodness, hands down the American Girl dolls — i played with them as a child and read the books and was completely enamored by the dolls and their different stories and time period they represented.

    I gave one to my niece, as a toddler she didnt understand, but adored the doll nonetheless, slept with it, ate with it, went on vacation with it, and when she was old enough she was able to collect the books and understood the history of the doll that's been with her for years.

    I love the American Girl dolls theyre truly timeless :)
