What’s Your Favorite Blog Layout Design To Read? Help A Girl Decide, Would Ya?

One of the many, many, many reasons I resisted moving from Blogger to WordPress for so long was because of the landing page design.

They were stark, cold, and uninviting like this:

uninviting room

I like blogs that feel homey, friendly, and warm like this:

cozy room

I also knew I didn’t want to use a strict magazine style layout, which I can’t stand. It’s too confusing to me, when all I really want to find is the latest post.

And if I can’t find your latest…I’m o.u.t. before I even get started.

As WordPress began to offer the ability to change those bits of hatred, my chance of conversion rate gradually increased. When I learned I could move my current design over there, I was in. And I moved.

That being said, I’m starting to get the itch to change things up a bit…just a bit…

What kind of blog layout do you prefer to read? Anything you especially like or dislike? Help.

PS. I know I have “click to read more’s” after my top post. I hate them, but I know it makes it way easier for you guys to see my most recent posts without having to scroll down until the sun sets or having to page back a million times. So shhhhhh on that.

  1. hehe keep on scrolling … until the cows come home .. lol

I agree I love the fun ones that give you a glimpse at the person behind the blog.

  2. I don’t like anything to busy – I get lost on the page and goodbye I go! And black – I can’t read black!!!!Oh, and soft feeling- like mine (insert: “aww” from my mouth )

Hi, I am glad I read this. I want to start a blog & would have started about 3 months ago. I am just struggling to figure out what blog host I want to use. I don’t want to pay for a website so I am interested in wordpress & I am not scared of complex of instructions to set up the blog. Like you I like the prettier site instead of the plain site.

Another thing that is holding me back is what to name my blog. I want to blog about my life: I have chronic fibromyalgia & chronic pelvic pain (quit work to get well & thanks to great pain dr doing great) (still have bad days, but when I feel good, I live!) . Want to blog about, lazy dachshund, crazy calico cat, awesome husband works all the time support me, 18 yr daughter. now that I am feeling better cleaning out from a an unorganized house, remodeling for over 10 years small house built by great grandfather in 1946, crafting to make anything & everything (have a mini micheals at my house from shopping while I was working when I was sick & depressed). I have lived more in the past 6 months than I have the past 4 years. I just feel like I am going to bust if I don’t get my story out there! I call my self a hippie without the weed. I was in such a shell over the past 10 years while struggling with the Fibro. I am back to my old self & that is just loving tie-dye & 70s stuff.

Sorry, I went on so long, I have so much to say. I have a Fibromyalgia page on Facebook, but that is not big enough for me. I want to grow more.

The two things holding back is 1. choosing the blog host site 2. blog name 3. I want to make sure before I start this that I know what I am doing & don’t go into this half way.
