Ok, I love my Windows phone and I wanna be selfish but…

I told you that I’ve been testing a Windows 7 phone, right? Well, it stole my heart!

And here’s why: My phone is not the boss of me. I’m the boss.

What I’m saying is that I completely customized my phone to my priorities.

In fact, I’d go so far as to say  that my homescreen is kinda like my purse. Everything I need all the time is right there!

I need my voice calls, text messages, and emails to be glued to me, so those are at the tippy top. I also have the People hub up there, which draws in content from my email and Facebook contacts.

Right below my email, I keep my app for Twitter, which is where I spend the majority of my social networking time, and my favorite Twitter app for the Windows phone is rowi. I love rowi!

So back to those “live” homescreen tiles…they refresh themselves! When somebody emails me, BAM! I know it instantly, right from my homescreen!

And you can change the colors on a whim. Pretty, pretty!

The user interface is extremely smooth and fluid, and makes it a genuine pleasure to navigate from screen to screen. It’s like the pages are softly turning, but the response time is immediate. And, the phone has never once crashed or locked up on me.

A few more reasons I adore this phone:

Email display – It’s clear, uncluttered, and unbelievably easy to read at a glance. It’s a huge improvement over my last phone.

Tell Me Voice – With its speech recognition software, I can speak into the phone with instructions, and my phone responds to my inquiry. I can tell it to call someone, open my calendar, or in this case, I said “Chinese restaurants”, and using the beautifully integrated Bing search engine, it brought up restaurants based on my geographic location, and even had turn by turn directions available.

Above the lock camera – A dedicated camera button allows spur of the moment photos to be taken even while the phone is in the locked position. I took this photo of my beignets in NOLA, while on the fly.

Calendar – I’ve never used a calendar on my phone before, so I’m still learning how to use this well, but I’ve been able to combine multiple calendars (personal and work) into one view and color code them for quick differentiation, and the current day’s notes will be displayed on the homescreen calendar button as a reminder.

Here’s my dilemma.

I’ve only had the phone for 18 days as of today, and I already love it and want to keep it for my own selfish purposes.

But, I also have a 20 year old son with a Qwerty-free dumbphone. I know he’ll utilize the features I’ve already been trying and probably even better than I do, and he’ll also use some of the coolest features I have yet to try, like Office Mobile, Netflix and Xbox Live. He lives and breathes movies and games.

Plus, I would totally score huge mom points if I turned it over….huge!

What should I do?

A huge thank you to Microsoft for providing me with a Windows phone, but doggone you for making it as cool as you did. Parting is such sweet sorrow (minus the sweet). All opinions and feelings of love and selfishness are completely my own. Sigh.
