Necessary Roughness Premieres on USA Network June 29th + $100 AMEX Gift Card and Gift Pack Giveaway

It’s the end of summer TV reruns!

USA Network’s newest series “Necessary Roughness” starts tonight, June 29th at 10/9c following “Royal Pains”, and once again, I think they’ve got a hit on their hands.

Now to be honest, I generally avoid sports-themed shows, and this is slightly about football, but not in an annoying football play-after-play kind of way. It’s more about the main character and her life.

The show centers on Dr. Dani Santino, played by Callie Thorne (best known from Rescue Me and Californication), and Matt Donally (Marc Blucas). Callie plays a Long Island psychotherapist and mom of 2 teenagers who has just discovered her husband is cheating.

She kicks his philandering butt out, and dives into her career where she takes on the challenge of working with a bad boy pro football player (Mehcad Brooks).

Her successful tough love therapy methods work, but she finds herself struggling to find a balance between her career and being there for her two kids, who still really need her.

Right from the start, I loved her sassy, never say die attitude, and I was totally surprised to find that I really enjoyed the show. I can’t wait to see how she takes on her future high-profile clients.

Check it out tonight when the very first episode airs on USA Network – June 29, 2011 – 10/9 Central.
