I’ve been using canned chicken for casseroles and soups, but it doesn’t work for sandwiches, salads, or the grill, so for those meals, I always have to buy raw poultry and cook it myself. Blech.
That’s why I was kinda geeked about the new Hillshire Farm Grilled Chicken Breasts. They’re already fully cooked, perfectly seasoned, and preservative-free!
Each chicken breast comes in an individual microwaveable pouch, and there are two per package. Pop a pouch in the microwave for 60 seconds, and the chicken is hot and ready to eat.
And good news! It doesn’t dry out a bit; it stays nice and moist.
I wanted to try the Original because I knew that I could use it plain, but I also wanted to be able to season it in different ways for various recipes and meals.
First, I used it to make a Grilled Chicken Club sandwich. I added bacon, lettuce, and tomato to the chicken and voila! I had myself a hearty and filling lunch.
A sandwich like this would be perfect for National Brown Bag Lunch Day on May 25th!
The next day, I decided to make a blackened cajun chicken salad, so I removed the chicken breast from the pack but didn’t heat it. (Since I loooooove my chicken really dry, I cut it into bite-sized portions right away, but to retain the moisture, you may want to cut it after heating.)
Then I added my cajun spice mix, and I sauteed it until blackened and heated through.
And yum! Just yum!
I really love the versatility of these chicken breasts, and they taste so fresh and delicious! Plus at just 120 calories each, they easily fit into anyone’s eating plan.
