Are you a mobile app collector like me? If it’s free, I’ll try it. App issues.
For example, I’m not sure how many shopping apps you have, but I have Apple Passbook, a mobile wallet, a birthday reminder/gift app, three price checking apps, a deal and coupon app, and a loyalty app.
At this point, you’re either thinking I shop too much or I’m a complete cheap-ass and app hoarder. (No comment.)
The one thing I’m willing to own up to is the app hoarding because it led me to a client and download of the Clutch mobile app (FREE for iOS and Android) which ironically helped me eliminate a bunch of apps.
Clutch is a feature-packed all-in-one shopping app. It has a mobile wallet (which integrates with Apple’s passbook), it has a loyalty app, a gift app, personalized shopping feeds, wish lists, birthday reminders, daily deals, coupons, comparison shopping and more. And it gives reward points!
In my case, it makes a sweet replacement all by itself for about four or five other apps I’ve been using.
And here’s the thing: because I can use Clutch for multiple purposes, I actually remember to use it. When I had separate apps, I often forgot to use them because (in true hoarder fashion) I often forgot I had them!
I can comparison shop by either using the built-in UPC bar code scanner on a product or by typing it in by name.
I wanted to see if I could find this pastry decorating practice board for my daughter, so I scanned the bar code on mine and the app quickly showed me where I should buy it for the best price.
Also, if you’re in a store looking at a product, do a quick barcode scan and it will let you know where else it’s being sold in your local area and for how much. Nice, huh?!
Let’s talk gifts… the app shows me the upcoming birthdays of all my Facebook friends in case I’d like to plan ahead and get them a gift. Or a card. Or nothing.
Clutch users can create lists of things they like, you’ll find yourself browsing the shopping feeds, which you can also sort by category. Follow your friends on Clutch and you can share cool finds with each other right through the app.
Oh wait, I forgot that it’s reducing real world clutter too!
All these loyalty cards exploding off of my keychain are going buh-bye now because I loaded them all into Clutch. I had a loyalty app before but I never remembered to use it.
The built-in scanner added them in less than 5 seconds each, and now they’re all neat and tidy inside the app. It’s awesome.
The one thing I haven’t done and probably won’t do is store gift cards or credit cards. Just a personal preference. However, the app is fully capable of managing those.
What really distinguishes the Clutch app from other shopping apps is that the more you use it, the more it’s going to be useful. The app is designed to recognize loyalty to your favorite merchants so that those merchants can reward you with additional deals and discounts.
And don’t forget that you earn Clutch Reward points when you use the app which you can redeem for gift cards!
And I’ll never say no to saving money.
(Or free apps.)
